Proposition L (LifeSaving Equipment)
What is Proposition L?
Proposition L (Lifesaving Equipment) is a ten-million-dollar General Obligation Bond. Proposition L can only be used for capital expenses. The Warrenton Fire Protection District (WFPD) plans to acquire new lifesaving equipment, vehicles and update current stations. A large majority of the WFPD’s equipment is at or beyond its replacement date. Tax rates for the bond repayment are dependent on the amount needed to secure the annual payment. It is estimated not to exceed $0.25 per 100 dollars of assessed valuation for a term of 20 years.
The Warrenton Fire Protection District’s current infrastructure is aging and needs to be modernized through the purchase of new equipment and renovations. Many of the District’s current fleet of vehicles are in need of replacement. Modern vehicles provide the District with reliability, safety and the necessary capabilities of the current and future service demand. Fire stations are considered Critical Infrastructure for their communities and should have technologies required for disaster and emergency response. The District’s current facilities do not meet these requirements.
Fire station renovations will give the District the ability to replace critical components in our fire stations so that they may stay in operation for many more years. The District plans to make modifications to its current stations to meet planned future needs. An efficiently laid out engine house provides for a rapid response time to emergencies and better supports operational needs.
In order to complete these much needed improvements, the Warrenton Fire Protection District will be placing a $10 million General Obligation Bond Issue on the April 8th 2025 ballot.
Proposed Projects:
Renovation of Current Administration, Fire House #1, and Maintenance Facility.
Replace Rescue Pumper Fire House #1 Update and Repair Current Fire House #2 Replace Rescue Pumper Fire House #2
Update and Standardize Lifesaving Equipment in the District
